Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is when a microbe evolves to become more or fully resistant to antimicrobials which previously could treat it. This term also covers antibiotic resistance, which applies to bacteria and antibiotics. Bacterial resistance increases because of mutation or evolution.

It is a condition that occurs when bacteria change in a way that reduces the effectiveness of drugs, chemicals or other agents designed to cure or prevent infections.

Hope it helps.
