Explanation: Metaphor is a type of figurative language that compares one thing directly with another. For example: The ocean was an old friend. Simile compares two things using the word like or as. For example: The ocean was as welcoming as an old friend.

Hope this helps!

Hi there!

A metaphor is when you compare something to something else without using "like" or "as", by making the object of the metaphor take on the characteristic of that other thing. Example:

"That person over there is such a pig."

The metaphor in this sentence is comparing the subject "person" to a "pig" without the use of the comparison words "like" or "as".
