Based on my information, I would say the mosquito's would do this, but they actually don't. This would be handled by ticks,as they would either sometimes wait for a mate to come by, or in another sense, a host, as they would lurk as they could.

D tick, although tapeworms eggs can survive on plants and become ingested into the host
