A rational number is a number that can be put over another number. So basically, it has to be p/q. What are some examples of rational and irrational numbers?
0.001 can be put over 1000.
However,
√2 can not be put over anything. Hence, it's irrational.
Again!
0.5 = 1/2, so rational
0.55 = 55/100, so rational!
