The War of 1812 promoted the growth of industry because the Jefferson's Embargo, and the war itself, showed the Americans that they could not depend on foreign products. And so, people turned to making their own products

because they were cut off from british trade, the americans realized that they could no longer depend on foreign goods, and turned to american manufacturers for more goods.
