I think David was very kind and generous. Many kings in the past were incredibly greedy and selfish. So many people were probably like "Wow he's nice".

Answer:

I think David sounds heroic, you can tell from the first paragraph that he's a very independent and brave man. my reaction to the second paragraph was calm, however at the end it states that they started to resent solomon. This is because he used the trade for big projects but didnt think about how the taxes would go to the northen tribes. it seems solomon's idea was a good intention but didn't go the way he wante or expected it to.
