This is a distributive problem, so 3/5 x r will give you 3/5r and 3/5 x -7 will equal -4.2
Your equation will look like 3/5r - 4.2=1
Now you have to solve this...
So you add 4.2 to both sides to get your equation to like like this,
3/5r -4.2=1
+4.2 =4.2 ----> 3/5r=5.2 now divide 5.2 by 3/5 to make r = 8.666

Hi there! The answer is 8 2 / 3

(3)/(5) (r - 7) = 1
First we need to get rid of the parentheses.

(3)/(5) r - (3)/(5) * (7)/(1) = 1

(3)/(5) r - (21)/(5) = 1

(3)/(5) r - 4(1)/(5) = 1
Add 4 1/5 to both sides of the equation.

(3)/(5) r =5 (1)/(5)
Now divide both sides of the equation by 3 / 5 to find our answer.

r = ( 5 (1)/(5) )/( (3)/(5) ) = 8 (2)/(3)
Hence, our answer is 8 2 / 3
