To get the inverse of a function, first write the function as a function of y in terms of x... so y = 1/4x - 12.. Now switch the variables as such:

x =
(1)/(4) y - 12 we now need to solve this equation for "y"
x - 12 =
(1)/(4) y
4(x -12) = y
8x - 48 = y

So y = 8x - 48 is the inverse of your function: Can also be written as:

f^(-1)(x) = 8x -48
