Explanation:

  • In order to add the fraction of teacups together the denominator has to be the same
  1. Find a common denominator for the fractions. One common denominator would be 20
  2. Convert your fraction to match the common denominator. 17/20 is fine as it is but for 1/10 to have a denominator of 20 both the numerator and the denominator will be multiply by 2 to get 2/20
  3. Add the terms together by adding the numerator but leaveing the denominator the same. 17 + 2 is 19 so the final answer is 19/20
