It is because he does not have the anti-bodies to fight off the disease. He needs to build-up the resistance of his immune system. This can be done by eating foods rich in vitamins and minerals. Apart from that, taking of supplements and proper bed rest can also help. Vaccination against diseases can also contribute to strengthening it.

Hi!

A person who has a weakened immune system may not be able to fight against infection because the body does not have a sufficient amount of proteins to fight infection. Also, the white blood cells are weakened and not able to attack an infectious body.
