What is the value of x in the solution to this system of equations?

Y + x = -2
Y = 1/2x + 7

Explain!!!!

y + x = -2
y = 1/2x + 7

substitue...

1/2x + 7 + x = -2

1.5x = -9

x = -6

y + (-6) = -2
y-6=-2
y=4

so your final answers are
x = -6 , y = 4
