a recent poll at Smithfield high school shows that 65% of seniors say that they have copied another student's homework and 25% of them have left school without permission from the office. What I'd the probability that a random student has copied someone's homework and has not left school without permission from the office?

The probability that a random student has copied someone's homework is given to be 65%.

If 25% have left school without permission from the office, then the probability that a student HAS NOT left without permission is 100 - 25 = 75%.

Then since the events are independent, we multiply both probabilities to find the chance that a student fits both:
(65%)(75%) = (0.65)(0.75) = 0.4875 = 48.75%
