Can someone please explain the term ‘survival of the fittest’ to me and why Hitler liked the idea of it?

In this sense survival of the fittest meant that we shouldn't help those who were struggling and that they were to blame for their own failure. The Idea meant that only the ones who put out an effort to make their lives better were the ones who would rise to the top. Hitler liked this idea because he wanted to build a "pure" nation which meant that he believed that everyone should do there part and become successful and that those who didn't make an effort to improve their lives didn't deserve the ideals of life since he believed that the poor were trying to rely completely on those who were successful.
