Try graphing h(x) = cube root of x.

Next, shift the entire graph 2 units to the left. Compare it to the graph of
h(x) = cube root of x.

Generally, if we start with the graph of g(x) and then replace "x" with "x-a," the effect on the graph is to shift the original graph a units to the right. If, however, we replace "x" with "x+a," the effect on the original graph is to shift it "a" units to the left. Try this.
