The answer would be: The cell is diploid because it contains two sets of chromosomes

The only way to diagnosis haploid cells would be by exclusion. To do that you need to examine all the chromosome and make sure that they are no coupled chromosomes.
But you can diagnosis diploid right away if you can find two sets of any chromosomes.
