There are 8 pounds of grapes. Four people each take 2/3 out. We can find out how much was taken out by multiplying these four people by the amount they took out, 2/3:

\sf 4*(2)/(3)=(8)/(3)

We can convert this improper fraction to a mixed number. Three goes into eight two times. 3 * 2 = 6. 8 - 6 = 2. So we have 2 and two thirds leftover, or:

\sf 2(2)/(3)

So the total amount of grapes that was removed from the bowl is
\sf(8)/(3) or
\sf 2(2)/(3) pounds.
