If there is an odd number of observations, the median is the middle one, if we order the observations in increasing order. If the number is even, then we take the mean of the two middle ones. Here, we see that we have in total 22 observations, so we take the mean of the 11th and 12th observation. We have that 9 observations are below 6. Then, the 10th until the 13th observation is 6. Hence, we have that the median is
(6+6)/(2) =6.
