Why did women such as Abigail Adams want the right to vote?

Because women believed that they should have the same rights as men, and did everything in their power to do so. Hence the suffrage movement in the 1920's. On August 18, 1920, The 19th amendment to the United States Constitution had granted women the right to vote. Which is called Women's sufferage.
