The War of 1812, fought against the British and often named as a second revolutionary war, has many famous battles and nationalistic imagery. The seige of Washington DC sent the federal government running to protect the new nation. James Madison was president during this war and his wife, Dolly Madison was responsible for gathering important historic pieces from the revolutionary period to save them from the seige and fire of the British invasion.
