1. Solve for x in 2x + 5 = 12
2x + 5 = 12 Subtract 5 from both sides.
2x = 7 Divide 2 from both sides.
x = 3.5
2. Substitute 3.5 in for x in 6x + 20
6(3.5) + 20
21 + 20
41
Your answer is
41
