In addition to the factors mentioned above, Incentive programs can be misused by employers as a form of retaliation against an employee for reporting a workplace injury or illness. These programs aim to encourage safe workplace practices. Compliance with hazard walkthroughs, legitimate workplace safety-related rules and health and safety training activities are all aspects of incentive programs which may be used against employees.
