We must solve for scarlet's time to find how long blake had taken to read his remaining chapters. The linear equation would be chapters = (rate)*(time) +first day
for Scarlett she has the equation of 25 = 3x + 10 to find her time
solve for x to find time spent on the second day.
25 = 3x + 10 .
subtract 10 from both sides
15 = 3x
divide both by 3
5=x . 5 hours were spent by both students on the 2nd day

for blake we have hours but not the rate so we have an equation of
16= y(5) + 6
subtract 6 from both sides
10= 5y
divide both sides by 5
2=y

Blake's rate was 2 chapters per hour on the second day.
