You are correct.

x^2+2x-3 = 0
(x-1)(x+3) = 0
x-1=0 or x+3 = 0
x = 1 or x = -3
If x = 1 or x = -3, then the denominator is zero.
To avoid division by zero errors, we kick x = 1 and x = -3 out of the domain
