Find the total area of the room
109 * 103 = 11227 inches^2
the tile takes up 3*3 = 9 inches^2
11227/9 = 1247.4
You need 1247 tiles and 0.4 of a tile.
Or you could just get 1248 and cut the last tile a bit :P

Hope this helps :)

Answer:

You will need almost 1248 tiles (exactly 1247.44 tiles)

Explanation:

The formula for the area of the rectangular room and the square tile is the same:

A=W*L

We can calculate the number of tiles by dividing the area of the rectangular room and the area of a single tile:

Area of the rectangular room:

A1=109*103\\\\A1=11227\\\\

A1=11227 square inches

Area of the tile:

A2=3*3\\\\A2=9\\\\

So for the number of tiles:

number of tiles = A1/A2 = 11227/9

number of tiles = 1247.44
