The surface area consists of the area of two rectangles whose dimension 5 × 4, area of two rectangles whose dimension 5 × 7, and area of two rectangles whose dimension 4 × 7.

Find the surface area
sa = (2 × l × w) + (2 × l × h) + (2 × w × h)
sa = (2 × 5 × 4) + (2 × 5 × 7) + (2 × 4 × 7)
sa = 40 + 70 + 56
sa = 166
The surface area of the rectangular prism is 166 cm²

multiply width times the height to get the rectangle area

5 x 7 = 35 units squared

I may be wrong but I think you may be over complicating it its okay I do that a lot too
