Give two reasons why the hydrochloric acid in the digestive juice does not damage the stomach.

The hydrochloric acid doesn't damage the stomach because the stomach has a protective lining on the inside walls to prevent damage. The stomach also releases a mixture of fluids that neutralize the hydrochloric acid.
