216 = x + y
y = 5x
216 = 6x
36 = x
y = 5(36)
y = 180
Species A can travel at a top speed of 180
Species B can travel at a top speed of 36

Answer:

Speed of species A is 180 mph.

Speed of species B is 36 mph.

Explanation:

Let the speed of species B be x

So, the speed of species A is 5x

Together they have a speed of 216 mph

This gives
x+5x=216

=>
6x=216

x = 36 mph

So, speed of species B is 36 mph.

And speed of species A is
5*36=180 mph.
