Given

Solution

You have to understand what f(x) means. When you put a value in for x, every x on the right is supplied with that value.

In this case I take the equation to mean what ever we are given in the brackets (in this case 10) is what goes into the x on the right. So the new equation is

f(-10) = -3*(-10)^5 + 1

(- 10) ^5 = - 100000

f(-10) = -300000 + 1

f(-10) = -299999
