Follow PEMDAS.

First solve the numbers inside the parenthesis

5(8 + 3) = 5(11)

Next, multiply 11 and 5

5(11) = 55

C. 55 is one of your answers

Another way of solving this is distributing 5 to all terms within the parenthesis

5(8 + 3)

5(8) = 40

5(3) = 15

40 + 15 = 55

A. 5*8 + 5*3 is another answer

hope this helps
