Hello!

2000lbs = 1 ton

So if we have 6000lbs then we can just multiply it by the pound to ton ration;

6000lbs*(1 ton/2000lbs) = 3 tons

we can see the units work out because pounds divides out and leaves us with the unit tons.

Since 1 ton is equivalent to 2000pounds, 6000 pounds would be 3 tons.
