It is difficult to create accurate maps of Earth because we are converting a spherical 3D shape into a 2D rectangle/square. This is difficult to do because of scaling in different ways. For example, Greenland may be bigger or smaller. Is Greenland larger than Africa? On some maps it is! There are many ways that people have tried, and so far, not a single one has been 100% perfect, and most likely we will never have a 100% perfect map of the globe.
