(4.32 * 10^(-4))/(8.71 * 10^(-9))

Let us first try to simplify (4.32 / 8.71)

On dividing we get 0.49

ON rounding off we get 0.5

So (4.32 / 8.71) is approximately 0.5.

In second part we have to apply property of division of exponents.


(x^(a))/(x^(b)) = x^(a-b)

applying this for 10⁻⁴ and 10⁻⁹

We have ,


(10^(-4))/(10^(-9)) = 10^(-4-(-9))

so it becomes 10⁵, the number will be large because -4-(-9)=5.

So the final answer in scientific notation is 0.5 * 10⁵
