What does the origin of many of the routes demonstrate about Europe and the Crusades?

Well it can demonstrate plenty of things but for the most part I think it demonstrates the tension between both nations and religions around this time.

Origin of many routes in Europe brought the strong empires that are Byzantine Empire and Turks directly into contact and conflict was unavoidable. In the eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth centuries crusades or military expeditions were launched by Christians to get the control of holy land (Jerusalem) under Muslim rule. The crusades declare war in the name of religion to mobilize more people and to justify the war efforts.
