For a two-day rental at the surf shop, it costs $45 to rent a surf board and $60 to rent a paddle board. On a certain weekend, the surf shop rented 44 total surf boards and paddle boards and made $3265. How many paddle boards were rented? Please show work

Answer:

x = surf boards, y = paddle boards

x + y = 44......x = 44 - y

45x + 60y = 2265

45(44 - y) + 60y = 2265

1980 - 45y + 60y = 2265

-45y + 60y = 2265 - 1980

15y = 285

y = 285/15

y = 19 <=== there were 19 paddle boards rented

x + y = 44

x + 19 = 44

x = 44 - 19

x = 25......and 25 surf boards rented
