I woke up to a loud noise at four in the morning. The people here seem to dislike sleeping. I reluctantly got out of bed and looked at my schedule. I had to get ready and head to the main hall for an orientation session in half an hour. By the time I managed to reach the main hall, it was half an hour too late. Beverages had been served, and everyone else was seated. I had to dislodge an entire row of students to get to a seat. I fell asleep during the presentation. When I woke up again, I found myself in an empty hall. I checked the time, and it was eleven thirty in the morning. When I went to the cafeteria to get some food, they had already stopped serving breakfast. Resigned to the fact that the day was not going to get any better, I went back to my room to sleep. I wished it were just a bad dream from which I would wake up.

The type of text structure that is used in this
is chronological sequence. As you can see, even though there is a lot of description of the narrator's feelings about his schedule, this excerpt consists of lots of actions listed one by one. The author describes everything he has done through the day, placing all the events in the order at which they occurred.
