Pepper Jackie is making posters with a map of the area around the youth center the map she has is too small for the poster so she wants to make it 3 times bigger if the current scale of the map is 1 inch to 12 yards what will be the scale for the new map

4inches and 4yards that is what I got but it might be wrong

Current map scale 1:12

Three times bigger would be


3* (1)/(12)=(1)/(4)=1:4

This would mean that 1 inch on the map would be 4 yards in the real world

Let us take example

If something measured 100 yards in the real world then in the old map it would be
(100)/(12)=8.33 inches in the map

Now in the new map if something measured 100 yards in the real world then in the new map it would be
(100)/(4)=25 inches.

So, the new scale would be 1:4, this means that 1 yard in the actual world would be 4 inches in the map.
