Read the lines from Spenser’s "Amoretti LV: So oft as I her beauty do behold."

So oft as I her beauty do behold,
And therewith do her cruelty compare,
I marvel of what substance was the mould
The which her made at once so cruel-fair.

Now read the lines from Shakespeare’s "Sonnet 131."

Thou art as tyrannous, so as thou art,
As those whose beauties proudly make them cruel;
For well thou know’st to my dear doting heart
Thou art the fairest and most precious jewel.

The ideas in the sonnets are similar because both sonnets focus on

A) affection.
B) amazement.
C) unkindness.
D) worth.

The ideas in the sonnets are similar because both sonnets focus on A) affection. Both these sonnects have a symbol of beauty as something unpleasant, because it is a tool to manipulate with other's hearts and minds. But still, the main idea of both works is affection of this beauty. Both authors point out that beauty can be cruel and unfair, but they can't resist their feelings.
