illiterate - anyone who doesn't have the capability of reading or writing

oppression - limiting a persons' or nations' rights to freedom and constricting them of doing what the want

slave code - a set of written rules and regulations for which slave owners can use to keep their slaves in check and rules every slave MUST follow

societies - a group or organization of people who have set out on living more or less peacefully with one another

ahh i'm not sure if my answers are grammatically correct but hope it checks out!

illiterate- having no education & can’t read or write

oppression- cruel or unusual treatment/ hatred towards a certain group of people

slave code- a way of controlling the slaves making them not think that they are persons

societies- people who share the same beliefs and cultures

hoped this helped!
