Landslides are defined as the mass movement of rock, debris or Earth down a slope. They often take place in conjunction with earthquakes, floods and volcanoes.

A landslide changes the earth's surface, because soil that use to be in higher ground is brought lower. Usually it occurs in areas that are moist and is a right angle to the slope. This generally lead to blockage of trails.
