Corporate decisions that increase a firm's equity can benefit society as a whole if the increase in equity assures an increase in cash circulation throughout society or if it provides a higher quality, lower cost, or improved service quality for society as a whole. If the increase in corporate equity does not satisfy or improve upon a need or service for society then the only party to benefit is the firm itself.
