my new total was $60 after the discount and i still had to pay 5% for sales tax, what is the final total

To start, since you already know your total without the tax, 60 dollars, now you have to find the sales tax.


Since the sales tax is 5% of the total, multiply 5% to 60. To do this, first convert 5% to a decimal by moving the decimal left two times. This would be 0.05. Now, multiply your 0.05 to 60:

0.05*60=3


Finally, add this sales tax to your total:

60+3=63


Therefore, your final total is 63 dollars.
