Solve for p by simplifying both sides of the equation, then isolation the variable
p = 1 + m/2
Hope this helps! :)

m= 8 -2(p-m)
m = 8 - 2p + 2m
2p = 8 + 2m - m
2p = 8 + m
p = (8 +m)/2
