The North American grasslands are part of a prairie ecosystem. The black tailed prairie dog is an herbivore in this system. They feed on prairie grasses and are prey for predators such as coyotes. Turkey vultures are scavengers that feed on the remains left behind by the predators.

How will the prairie ecosystem ,begin emphasis, most, end emphasis, likely change over ten years if volcanic cloud cover significantly limits the available sunlight?

Answer: There will be much less vegetation and much less variety in the remaining vegetation, as well significantly fewer black tailed prairie dogs and turkey vultures.

Explanation: Well, volcanic cloud limiting sunlight, would mean vegetation grows less well, and limits the types of vegetation that are able to grow.

So animals that eat vegetation will be thinner and more will die, so numbers will decrease significantly. The prairie dog will be reduced in number or disappear, and therefore so will the turkey vultures.
