Another downside to a seawall compared to a natural shoreline is the loss of biodiversity caused by removing the natural strip of beachscape habitat known as the intertidal zone. Birds, fish, and other animals who rely on this unique landscape lose nursery and foraging grounds.

Seawalls are built to protect against erosion and flooding, but they can also have a negative impact on birds. The walls can block birds' access to the shoreline, making it difficult for them to find food and nesting sites. In addition, the walls can cause wave action that can damage bird nests and make it harder for chicks to survive.

Hope this helps :)
