The earth is divided to several layers. Lithosphere is the hardy and rock outer layer of the earth including the crust and the upper mantle. The crust and the mantle are fractured to form plates which are called the lithospheric plates. These lithospheric plates are characterized by frequent volcanic activity. Lithosphere can cause an earthquake when these plates bump against each other.
