How did president Thomas Jefferson and the Democratic-Republican Party differ from the Federalist Party in their views of the national government?

Thomas Jefferson believed in state's rights, thought the national government should be a loose joinment of the states, whereas Alexander Hamilton and the federalists believed there needed to be a strong national government with an executive and control over the financial situation of the country.
