The number is 24

Explanation:

Let x and y be the 2 digits .

Note that because x and y are integers and the original number is a multiple of 3 and 4, it must also be a multiple of 12.

So by trial and error:-

Let the number be 12:-

x + y = 3 and 4 * 3 = 12 so this fits the first condition.

x * y = 2 and 3 * 2 = 6 . This does not fit.


Let the number be 24:-

xy =24 , x + y = 6 and 4*6 = 24 . This fits.

x*y = 8 and x*y = 24 This fits.

The answer is 24
