Robinson Crusoe is a novel, by Daniel Defoe, that is more fictional than a true story. In the story, Crusoe is a young man who tired of his boring and methodical life in England becomes a mariner and runs away traveling around the world searching for adventures.
In order to get ready for winter on the Island, Robinson Crusoe tries to improve his situation by digging to make the cave larger. He makes a home for himself, a table, a chair, and carves places to hang his tools on the wall.
