Piece of cake. Your task is to click and drag the words from the item bank (the grey boxes) to their appropriate locations on the diagram (the white boxes).
The diagram shows enzyme function. An enzyme is a protein that speeds up chemical reactions by decreasing the activation energy required for the reaction to take place. Each enzyme works with a specific molecule (the substrate). The substrate fits into the enzyme's active site like a key in a lock. Together, the substrate and the enzyme form the reactants of the reaction. Some enzymes build large molecules from smaller molecules, others (such as the one shown) break large molecules into smaller molecules. The resulting molecules at the end of the reaction are the products.
