Brendan drew a diagram to illustrate the centripetal force acting on a satellite.

How can Brendan correct his diagram?

A. Draw the Fg = Fc vector so it points at a 45° angle from the v vector.

B. Change the Fg = Fc vector label so it reads Fa = Fc.

C. Draw the Fg = Fc vector so it is longer than the v vector.

D. Change the Fg = Fc vector so it is perpendicular to the v vector.

nevermind for E2020 the answer is D

when satellite revolve around the earth we can say that any other effect on satellite is negligible and the only force on satellite is due to gravitational force of the earth.

Now since satellite is revolving around the earth in circular orbit

So we can say that net force on the satellite is providing it centripetal force

So this force is towards the center of the path and it must be given as

F_c = F_g

now here the velocity of the satellite is always along the tangent to the path and it must be constant always

so here the correct option must be

D. Change the Fg = Fc vector so it is perpendicular to the v vector.
